ACCOUNT HELP
Q: What is a Screen Name?A: A Screen Name is a unique identifier which helps others find you on the
DateRaters site. If you've already created a rockin' screen name on other dating or social networking sites, we encourage you to use the same name. This will allow other
DateRaters'
members to learn a little bit more about who you are and what you're like.
Q: Can I change my Screen Name?A: Yes. You can change your Screen Name on our site as much as you like. This might be a bit confusing for others who use
DateRaters, but who are we to say no.
Q: Is my email address private?A: Absolutely! We will never, ever share your email address with other
DateRaters. If you volunteer to allow other individuals to contact you, all communications will occur within the
DateRaters site. Your email address will never be seen by the people with whom you communicate. We'll never sell your personal information either, though we may use it to improve
the services we deliver to you through the
DateRaters' site (e.g. displaying better ads for you, etc.)
Q: What should I do if I forget my password?A: No worries. We know you have hundreds of other passwords, pin numbers, phone numbers, etc. to remember. To create a new password, simply click on
Oops, forgot my password on the login page.
Q: Can I change my password?A: Of course! Sheesh... what kind of people do you think we are? To change your password, login and click "Change my password" in your profile.

you?
We sure hope not... While we hate to lose you as a member, if your mind is absolutely made up, you can email us at

DateRating
Q: What does it mean if I can't find someone?A: If you're searching for feedback on another person and can't find anything, it probably means that no other daters have provided feedback for this person yet. If the person has multiple Screen Names (aliases), try searching by one of those. Also, try broadening your search to include "DateRaters or any other site". If no one has
DateRated this person, don't be shy - there's honor in being first!
Q: Can other users see the feedback I provide?A: Yes. Your feedback will be added to a summary of combined ratings from all
DateRaters who have rated your date. You have the option of marking your feedback "anonymous", in which case your Screen Name will not be
attributed to your comments.
Q: Can other users see the feedback about me?A: Yes, all the feedback you receive is combined and presented in your
DateRaters profile.
Q: I'm really freaked out/pissed off about my feedback!!! What can I do?A: Wow! Take a deep breath - it's going
to be OK! Most of us could stand to improve in some areas, so don't be put off if you receive constructive criticism from your dates. It will only help you get better before your next date. If you find your feedback to be objectionable - we're talking morally, ethically here (not just that your pride is hurt) - email us at
datepolice@dateraters.com and we'll investigate.
Q: Can I remove feedback
from other users?A: Receiving "constructive" (read: negative) feedback is generally unpleasant. In most cases, feedback provided by another user cannot be removed.
DateRaters provides users with the opportunity to comment on their perceptions of a dating experience. Because the feedback represents a user's opinion,
DateRaters does
not edit these comments, nor do we evaluate feedback for accuracy.
DateRaters will remove feedback if we find that the
Terms of Use have been violated.
If a user finds content objectionable, s/he should notify the
DateRaters'
Date Police and we will investigate the matter further. Please send an email to
datepolice@dateraters.com.
For information about specific policies on feedback removal, refer to
DateRaters' Terms
of Use.
Q: What should my feedback contain?A: Your feedback should contain accurate and truthful information about your date. We advise you to always be honest about your dating experiences with those you are rating. When appropriate, you should point out positive things about your date. However, if you believe "constructive" (read: negative) feedback is warranted then please leave it. Your feedback
may help prevent another user from experiencing the same situation.
Q: Can I make my feedback anonymous?A: Yes. Your feedback will be added to a summary of combined ratings from all
DateRaters who have rated your date. You have the option of marking your feedback "anonymous", in which case your Screen Name will not be attributed to your comments.
Q: Can I edit feedback I provided about someone?A: You cannot change feedback you've already submitted.
Q: How do I provide feedback on someone I dated?A: Click on the "
Rate Your Date" tab and follow the instructions for entering information about your date. Prepare yourself... the
experience can be quite cathartic.
Q: How can I request feedback from my dates?A: Login to your account and click on "
Get DateRated". Then, it's just a matter of following the instructions for soliciting feedback from your dates. Don't worry... we'll walk you through it.
Q: How
do I check out others' DateRaters feedback?A: If you know the Screen Name of the individual whose feedback you would like to review, click on the "
Search" tab and enter this information in the text box. Then, select the name of the site on which the individual created his/her profile (e.g., Match.com. MySpace.com, JDate.com). If you don't know the dater's Screen Name, no worries - you can search
by age, location, and a few other things. If you don't know the dating/social networking site, just select "DateRaters or any other".
Q: How should feedback be interpreted?A: Usually, high ratings on each of the four dimensions (physical, intellectual, emotional, and social) are a good sign, but you should also review any written comments provided by others, keeping an eye out for any negative remarks. Recognize,
however, that none of us is perfect and we all have areas we can improve.
Q: What are tags?A: Tags are like keywords or labels that you can attach to your feedback. Tags make it easier to find feedback on daters. For example, if you tag your feedback for a dater with 'sexy', he/she will appear when other
DateRaters search for 'sexy' daters. Anything can be a
tag, and you can assign as many tags as you wish!
Q: What happens if a person changes their username on another dating or social networking site after I give them feedback?A: You can add "also known as" info to their profile to indicate it is the same person.
Q: What is "also known as"?A: DateRaters profiles may contain "also known as" screen names to capture the many social identities used by online daters/social networkers on various websites. To connect all usernames for a given individual and make it easier to search for them, you can add "also known as" info to their (or your own) profile.
